He was from Sorsogon province and loved to swim and dive. In 1974 he joined a group called the Saturday Group, the group consist of National Artists like Hernando Ocampo, Vicente Manansala, Cesar Legaspi, Ang Kiukok and Ben Cabrera. He is good in both oil and and pastel in making landscape, nude portraits and vases. Bolaños become a topic in multiple art books and have a book signed by him titled "Pastel by Greg Bolaños" and had multiple solo exhibit and awards.
